National Respite for Carers Program - Working Carers Program
Eligibility: Are you a primary carer who is:
- Caring for a person aged 65 years or older (aged 50 or older if a member of the Aboriginal Community)?
- Balancing paid employment with you caring role (or training towards employment)?
If you have answered 'yes' to both these questions, you may be eligible for the "Working Carers" respite.
How it Works: The program aims to assist employed carers by increasing their access to support services for the person who receives care (the care recipient).
It is designed to 'plug the gaps' in the carer's support system, to help them maintain their position in the workforce. It may involve transporting the care recipient to and from the local day centre, or providing extra support to enable the carer to meet their work commitments.
Fees: Employed carers will be asked to pay a fee for this service. The amount charged will be negotiated with the Parkside Service Manager or Coordinator.
